I was born and raised in the Grand Rapids area and have lived here all of my life. Photography was a childhood hobby of mine that fell victim to time and money constraints in early adulthood. My passion for taking pictures was rekindled when my husband and I purchased a Sony digital point and shoot for a vacation in 2004. By 2006 I was using a Canon Digital Rebel XT and having the time of my life. I am never so at peace with myself as when I’m clicking away with the camera.
I love to travel but my real home is the West Michigan area, and I get a kick out of showing my own unique perspective of it to the world. I take very few shots of traditional local symbols, preferring instead to focus on the little details of my surroundings — things that we rarely notice unless we stop for a moment and really look around. In my portfolio you’ll find peeling paint next to images of bright new murals, rusting metal hulks next to kids dancing in a city fountain to escape the summer heat, pavement-level streetscapes in downtown Grand Rapids next to sweeping vistas of New Zealand’s Kapiti Coast.
And that’s just the beginning…
As always you can find new photos in my Flickr stream almost every day (the best bits are here).
If you see an image that you’d like to use, blog, license, or own a print of please email me at the address below. Questions, comments, inquiries and other greetings of various sorts should also be sent to me at:
